Where does the Stone come from?

Natural Stone is quarried from the earth. It has, by nature, conditions such as color, size, veins, fissures, thickness, etc. that cannot be controlled. These characteristics are not structural defects, rather are a naturally occurring result of the immense heat and pressure that formed the stone. All natural stone products contain imperfections, even though they may be difficult to see on a large slab with its highly polished surface. It is standard practice by the manufacturers of these slabs to repair these conditions through processes such as waxing, filling, or rodding. These characteristics are part of the natural beauty of the stone and will not impair the function or durability of the material.

What stone's best for kitchen? bathroom?

Granite is a dense stone and therefore more scratch and stain resistant. It is better suited for a kitchen and areas where food is prepared. Marble has more pores. It is recommended in bathrooms and areas with less wear and tear.

What is the size/weight of the stone?

Natural stone comes in two standard thicknesses for countertop applications: 2cm (3/4") and 3cm (1 1/4"). Each thickness has it's own advantages and disadvantages. Below is a list of factors you should consider when deciding which thickness is right for you.

What about seams?

Stone slabs average about 5' x 9'. When countertops run longer than 9 feet, there will be a seam. Seaming is an art. Please ask to see samples of our seams when you visit our showroom.

Will any fabrication be done in my house?

We fabricate everything in our state of the art shop. Typically, only the drilling for plumbing, and possibly the sink or stove cutout, is done onsite. We recommend you drape off all rooms outside of the work site to keep them dust free.
